The summer after Dumbledore died, Harry went after Voldemort just like everyone suspected. There was no convincing him otherwise, but in the end it wasn't just Harry against Voldemort. It was a war between what was right and what was easy...
It was easy for a few to switch sides and go with the people who seemed more likely to win. There were many casualties, including Professor McGonagall and most of the Hogwarts Staff. Some, however, left the country for a safer home. They found, though, that there was no place safe on the earth from Lord Voldemort's evil. It had spread far, but out of any place, it was mostly concentrated in England.
In the end, Harry had to confront Voldemort on his own. Their duel was much more exciting than their one when Harry was fourteen, but in the end... Harry fell.
All of his friends and schoolmates grieved for the rest of the summer, and will continue to as well. The rest of the world did as well, but not because they knew him. They only grieved because they knew that no one could defeat Voldemort now.
-------
Meanwhile, Hogwarts got a new Headmaster, well, a Headmistress. She knew that she could never replace Albus Dumbledore, but she knew that she would do her best. And, after all, no one else would take the position at such times. The school opened a couple of weeks later, but it did open again.
The school itself took a lot of damage near the end of Harry's days. There were numerous fights in Hogwarts, even when it wasn't open for the students. The Death Eaters found it to be a victorious location. It was, after all, the place they infiltrated before one of them killed Dumbledore.
-------
The day before Hogwarts started up again, Headmistress Merigold was confronted by a Seer in her office. She told her that there was still hope left. A new prophecy was made...
Four can do what wasn't done
First with loyalty
Second with intellect
Third who's loyal
Fourth who's cunning
Together they can defeat He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named
His loyal followers will fall...
At this, Headmistress Merigold was ready to celebrate, but the telling of the prophecy wasn't complete.
But if they do not unite
By the Dark Lord's next year
There will be an eerie sight
The Dark Lord will never fall.
The Seer left the Headmistress' office as quietly as she entered it and left Jane Merigold with something to think about. The first Hufflepuff to come to her school would be one of the students. The other three would be the second Ravenclaw, third Gryffindor and fourth Slytherin to walk through the great oak doors. How would she tell them? How would they unite together? Surely three of them would be willing for the task, but what about the last? The cunning Slytherin. And, of course, there was a time limit. She only had four months to unite the students together to finish what Harry could not. [/center]
